White Fruit Cake

 
 

from Mrs. Hill

 
 

1 cup sugar
1 cup shorting
5 eggs
2 cups flour
citeron, raisens, candied Pineapple, orange peel, candied cherries
1/4 blanched almonds
1/2 teaspoon B.P. [baking powder-added at bottom of recipe]

beat shorting
add sugar (together)
gradually beat eggs in one at a time
add flour
lastly fruit

Put half of almonds on top cake
bake slowly
start in very warm oven

no milk

Cool oven 250°F
Slow oven 250–350°F
Moderate oven 350–375°F
Hot oven 375–450°F
